Re: 520,000 wafers in 13 weeks + 20% 12" wafers

Adds 156,000 wafers per quarter.

We're pretty close in our estimates.

I suppose another way we could estimate it would be to use the fact that Intel is running wafers in about 10 times the clean room space to produce 4 times the number of CPUs - so if AMD's at 90 then Intel's GDPW is at 36. And remember that average includes a mix of tiny PIIIs for Xbox, PIIIs and celerons for mobile/low end, moderate sized .13 P4s and huge .18 P4s. And it includes some 12" wafers.

I don't think AMD would have chosen to release that information unless they knew how bad it made Intel look.

Intel: 4x5000 WPW fabs + 2 10000 WPW fab = 520,000 wafers in 13 weeks. 34M CPU's = 65 good die per wafer.
Don't tell me these fabs are needed for chipsets and other prodects. Intel has 5 other fabs to make products for 25% of it's revenue stream. If they choose to make chipsets in their CPU fabs, it is to hide their abysmal yields.

I knew someone would come back with that nonsense. It's as predictable as the sunrise.

If my numbers are wrong, give me the real numbers, I dare you. There's no numbers you could give that would result in a yield above 60%.

What???? and ruin your little fantasy? I wouldn't do that to you.

Petz, Re: "If my numbers are wrong, give me the real numbers, I dare you."

Given that you know nothing about Intel's manufacturing facilities, you probably are wrong. But I find it amusing that you are using this as a tactic to harass Elmer into giving you inside information.
