Mani, <as justifiable as it might sound for someone who has only being following it since sep 11th,>

As someone who has only been following it since 9/11, how do I separate the truth from the B.S.?

Tenchusatsu, you need to go back and read about the history of the region since the mid 19th century. After that, you will realize that the Palestinians are not quite the victims they portray themselves to be and the Israelis are not quite the saints they think they are. And to make matters worse, the English had their hands in the mess as well.

The most neutral read that I have found is with the Library of Congress at the link below. Then do a google search and see Israel's take on the same history and then the Palestinian take. When Z talks about revisionist history, he wasn't kidding. An equivalent example of revisionist spin on say the Revolutionary War would be the English claiming that they gave us everything, including their best years, to get the colonies started, and the colonists insisting that the English took every bit of product that the colonies produced, raped their women, and stole their livestock 24/7 with the French suggesting that they made it all happen for the good of everyone.

It was the first time that I have seen such blatant disregard for the real history. And the sad thing is that each player thinks he has the absolute correct read, and therefore is justified in every ugly move he makes in the present. Its no wonder finding peace in the Middle East is akin to looking for the Holy Grail.

Separating the truth from the BS may not be possible without understanding the whole situation which requires some historic undesrstanding of the conflict.

Once again it comes back to our recent argument of Israel being "white" and Palestinians being "black", of course I am not referring to skin color. IMO, it ain't so.
