CommWorks offers software upgrade of Total Control 1000 PDSN from 1XRTT to 2.4 Mbps 1XEVDO. Lovely for Korea, Japan and US.

Software upgrade for CDMA service node to high speed data

CommWorks has said that its Total Control 1000 Packet Data Service
Node (PDSN) can now be upgraded to CDMA 1xEV-DO (1x
Evolution-Data Optimized) with a simple software upgrade. No new
hardware is required. The Total Control 1000 PDSN exchanges packets
with the mobile station over the radio network, and with Internet
Protocol (IP) networks. To perform these functions, the Total Control
1000 PDSN interfaces with the radio network node, also called a packet
control function (PCF); with a RADIUS AAA server (used for user
authentication and session accounting); and with home agents for
Mobile IP applications.

1xEV-DO (1x Evolution-Data Optimized) is designed to achieve peak
data rates of 2.4 megabits per second within the same 1.25MHz
spectrum used in today's CDMA networks.
