Interesting! I live at the top of a hill anyway so not really that bothered.

Have you heard about the impending doom for eastern US when the Las Palmas volcanic cliffs fall into the sea? They reckon a 1/2 mile tidal wave will hit the East Coast.

Because floating ice displaces the same volume of water
as melted ice, iceberg that formed from floating ice on Antarctica's vast ice shelves add no volume to the ocean.

Thus, if I understand the principle correctly, the entire North Arctic ice sheet, not being on land but already displacing its weight in the water, could melt and not cause sea levels to rise??

Geewiz... I love these scientific revelations that contradict the "doomers and gloomers" calling for the end of the world... :0)

However, I guess the main issue is what impact such a quantity of fresh water would have on the "ocean conveyor" that drives the circulatory system of the oceans, such as the gulf stream.

Without the GS, we'd see N. Europe and Canada thrust back into an Ice Age... And lord knows it's bad enough handling the immigration problem south of the border without a bunch of snooty Quebecqois stealing across into the US.... :0)
