KT to give online information to World Cup visitors

KT Corp., Korea's leading telecom provider, will provide comprehensive online information related to the 2002 FIFA World Cup to foreign spectators, company insiders confirmed Wednesday.

The official partner for FIFA for this year's premiere soccer event, has opened a general information Internet site (www.kt2002.net) that offers easy access to basic information to foreigners arriving during the May 31-June 30 competition.

The telecom carrier said that information on tourism, data on the 32 finalist countries, analysis on game results and schedules will be listed. In addition, general information about lodging and eateries will be provided to anyone who clicks onto the site.

The Internet homepage also has features that will allow users to download highlights of the matches and permit users to make hotel reservations.

KT said that to dispel any inconvenience to people from non-English speaking countries, it will offer the service in Chinese, Japanese and Spanish along with Korean and English.

Besides this, KT officials said that there will also be a special service that allows foreigners to send picture postcards to friends and relatives back home.
