I don't see why Itanium 2 wouldn't outperform Power4 (or at least match Power 4) across the board. In single threaded benchmarks like SPEC CPU2000, it has a definite advantage, since Power4 can't use the second core. In multithreaded apps, the same number of Itanium 2 cores should be able to outperform Power4 (for example, an 8-way Itanium 2 vs an 8-way four-processor Power 4).

Of course, I don't know what kind of improvements Power 4 will receive this year. I am merely comparing against the current 1.1GHz and 1.3GHz products.

Are you saying that McKinley will be outperform Power4 in SpecInt, or something else?
