They are really shocking, the Silver Insitute was only expecting increased production from places like Mexico and Peru, but now some of old boring base metal mines are increasing silver output. Not factored into the equation, yet. I think it will stop any silver rally around $5 this year. The other factors you mention may come into play later in the game, but probably not in 2002.

I think this depends on which McDonalds. The one in Barstow on the way to Vegas does a lot of business so maybe its true there but I dont think the entire mining industry is less the McDonalds here in Santa Cruz because most of the lesbian vegetarians here go to the Healthy Choice restaurant across the street (they dont know its owned by ConAgra!)
