Actually neither you nor the government should be involved at all. The "alternative" energy technology will tell world when it's ready: When it's competitive with petroleum. It won't be worthwhile before that. And if known petroleum sources expand, and extraction becomes less expensive-both of which are likely, alternative energy generation will remain an minor sidelight for decades, possibly even centuries. Our collective task today is to get it out of the hands of the half-human Islamic radicals who happen to inhabit the best known sources at the moment. Whether that means killing them or dragging them, kicking and screaming, into the modern world, is of far less importance than you may think. We should attend to either task without delay...
