this writer has the support of at most 12% of the Israeli population. she probably thinks gore won the election in the US.

Bill, I think you misunderstand the point of some of scott's posting. In these posts, he's making us aware of disparate voices from within Israel. He's not pretending she speaks for Israeli society; just that she has been published in a reputable paper and is thus part of the public conversation. Seems to me one of the ways in which Israeli society is better than Palestinian society is precisely this openness to public debate.

Stop whining about Sharon if you want peace and convince the Palestinians to find a leader who can make the difficult choices necessary for peace to take root.

Bill, if we were all sitting around the kitchen table discussing this or at a table in the local coffee shop, and you made that comment about someone who's been a part of the group for sometime, who has helped bring lots of material to our attention, we would all say something like, easy there, Bill, if you've got a problem with that post of scott's or his posting, put forward an argument against the argument in his posts. If you attack him personally, it undermines your credibility and gives the thread a much harsher feel. None of us, including you, at least I think, wants that.

All this whinning about Sharon. It makes me laugh(in a maccabe sort of way). The Palestinians got him elected.
Arafat new if he got Sharon elected he would have a whipping boy to stir the masses into a frenzy. It would be us versus Sharon. "Get rid of Sharon, he's the problem. We are the victims of this war criminal! Help us America and Europe, help us SA, help us Saddam!"
Arafat did not want to negotiate with Barak. He started killing the Jews and the Jews voted out Barak because Barak for all his efforts had failed. Barak has become a very vocal supporter of Sharon.
