Don't know for a fact, but feel reasonably sure that hi-tech is a relatively small part of Israeli economy....at least in terms of tax revenues. Many of those cos. that sprang up in the 90's have yet to be profitable.

That's my impression as that tourism is a large part of the economy. But I don't really know. Would love to find out.
