editorializes on its news pages -- headlines like this:

You know I think the NY Times does exactly what you are talking about, but in this case the story is headlined, "Washington Memo" which gives the appearance of a opinion piece.

Hey Nadine!!! We totally agree on something re the NYT and WSJ.

One of Robert Bartley's recent editorials, though, was pretty harsh on Bush.

Why conservatives suspect that the New York Times editorializes on its news pages -- headlines like this:

I fail to see the problem, Nadine. It's labeled a "Washington memo," so it's clearly an opinion piece. And the substance of it is the usual political analysis--how does Bush handle the news given that he wants to gain control of the Senate in the next election.

If this is what you mean by unacceptable bias, then I understand a little more clearly what bothers you. And one of the reasons why we disagree so vigorously so frequently.

As for Bush and the NYTimes, you should have seen the gnashing of teeth with Clinton and the NYTimes. Seems to me the Times is just doing its job.

On the WSJ, I don't see that much difference. You have the Seib columns that used to appear on the back page of the front section right along with the US political news, that was exactly this kind of political analysis.
