Iraq signs oil cooperation pact with Indonesia Iraq and Indonesia’s oil ministers recently signed an agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation in oil and gas exploration, reported INA. The agreement calls for Indonesia's state oil and gas company Pertamina to drill for oil and gas in a 10,000 square kilometers block in Iraq's western desert. In addition, Iraq’s Oil Mminister Amir Muhammad Rashid and his Indonesian counterpart Purnomo Yusgiantoro signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for technical cooperation between the two ministries Indonesia has made previous efforts to boost cooperation with Iraq under the United Nations’ (UN) oil-for-food program. Iraq has been under a strict UN embargo since its 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
