Well, my whole scenario hopefully is very unlikely. However, it will get some credibility if Congress decides to investigate whether any funds reach certain prohibited organizations. If that happens, it will be hard to continue casting a blind eye to links between foreigners with money in the US, and the organizations they support. Since the freezing/confiscation is an executive order, without judicial appeal, and is applied without prior warning, I think it should make wealthy foreigners apprehensive.

Remember the prince who tried to donate $10m to a New York fund for aiding families of firefighters, and it was refused ? Well, he has donated $27 m to a fund to aid Palestinian martyrs. Supposedly that fund was (at the request of congress) to be discussed with the Royal delegation that met President Bush yesterday. Did everyone just wink and nod at each other ? or was it a serious warning ? I have no idea. But I bet it will make some people nervous. Anyway, if next week, oil, gold, euro and Yen go down, while greenback goes up, I'll consider that the theory is disproved.

I do have an on-topic question. Is LSI as good as Altera in their technology, or is Altera clearly superior as an investment ?
