I don't question anyone's motives because I know that everyone is motivated by the same thing - self-interest. W.C. Fields, who was a low-level con artist before he became a comedian, used to say, "you can't cheat an honest man." Many people who get cheated are looking for something for nothing. Government officials do what is in their own self-interest, politicians do what gets them the most campaign contributions. So why trust government any more than you trust free enterprise?
