<I think the more evolved man becomes, the wider his area of self-interest extends. >

CB, quite right and there doesn't seem to be a limit. When It is fully developed, the difference between self and everything else might become blurry.

I wonder if the cosmic microwave background radiation which is supposed to be the residue of the Big Bang is really just the hum of CDMA through the universe in Gaussian noise form for all the Its. That would be telecosmic! The silly SETI searchers are looking for signals like I Love Lucy or something, in a single frequency. Staring them in the face and filling their radio telescopes are petatrillions of photons 724, chattering away about what was going on long ago.

Self-interest ... fine. But you dont equate it with greed, do you? Not just? The devil is in the detail, as Germans say.

After pressing Enter and going to bed, I kept thinking (really?;/ - actually I had a cup of coffee late in the afternoon and I just kept tossing around). I fell asleep on the realization, one should, instead on the divide between private enterprise and government, concentrate on right vs wrong. Im decidedly a sceptic when it comes to this kind of Manichaean ideas, but I guess lying to stock holders (private enterprise) and taking kickbacks (government)is wrong on one side, and giving millions to eradicate malaria, Cholera and AIDS or taking care of judicial system on the other (for instance) is fine for a majority among us.
