These six want to live and to be jailed in a proper prison where they cannot strike again will be good omen, the stalemate had to be broken.

Arafat knows the consequences of continuation of terror, but he has to show something to other radicals too like 'Hamas.' In present case he will appear to have saved face, not that it matters but it does for his domestic lobby, he has to deliver this wild bunch if he can, anyway otehrs unknowns can be equally deranged and more difficult. Better to deal with someone you know than someone who is unknown in this particular strategic stalemate between two adversaries. Just my humble opinion.

In present circumstances some kind of total solution has to be worked upon, interim solutions have not worked so far. The surgical solution of 'ethnic cleansing' of the entire 'Palestinian population' as proposed by some in its callousness and severity is nothing less than other ethnic cleansings that we all deplore and abhor so much, what is not good for Jews or Bosnians is not good for Palestinians either.

Much as I deplore the suicide attacks that kill innocent citizens and follies of Palestinian leadership, I would feel strongly about mass displacements of humans on basis of race and ideology. The only way out is a contained ‘Palestinian state’ quarantined like Berlin from Israel, since the two cannot stay together they have to be separated and kept that way for some time say initially for 20-30 years until they realise that war is not the solution it is peaceful coexistence that will lead their future generations to some kind of hope and prosperity. To push everyone out of West Bank is not feasible and is not human.

I can see the logic behind 'Jenin,' to clean the pockets of terror is understandable but to make the whole West Bank 'Jenin' will be a massive tragedy. I have been very clear that strategic advantage should not be pushed too far by any nation to an extent that it becomes disadvantage, Arafat did it with Barak he got Sharon in return, much as it is valid for anyone else it is equally valid for Israel in present case. A political negotiated brokered by US after all what has transpired is a good beginning.
