"Just what was INTC's q2 guidance??? Did I hear right at $6.4 billion to $6.8 billion in revenues??? Does that mean that INTC's q2 revenues could come in under q1's despite INTC's phenomenal success in conversion to NW??? Even with the alleged "yield problems" and the "delayed T-bred", it looks like INTC might have dufficulty achieving $25 billion in FY02 revenues...Heck that's even less than last years' revenues, despite world class p4 yields...Even in FY98, INTC's revenues were $26.2 billion...Has INTC really been just treading water all this time??? How come??? "

How come??? Two words:

Price war.

That's the bad news. The good news is that Intel is winning this price war, remaining profitable, while AMD is losing this price war, continuing its long history of losing money.

At this rate, Intel will accomplish the goal of pushing AMD out of business.

Niceguy, Re : "it looks like INTC might have dufficulty achieving $25 billion in FY02 revenues"

Q102 revenue is 6.8B, Q2 will be ~6.6B.

Are you predicting Q3+Q4 revenue of Intel to be $11.6B ?

Would you throw some light on your analysis ?

Maui.

niceguy767 - <i<Just what was INTC's q2 guidance???

Let's see...did Intel guide analysts that revenue would be $840 to $900 million and that only if revenue would hit the high $900 million mark would they break even - and that if they hit the low mark - $840 million - they would lose money?
Did they guide for a drop in CPU sales this quarter?
Did Intel guide that way?

Nope - excuse me - that was the late and great AMD guiding that way.
