Dale: The house analogy doesn't work for me. I am not one to trade a house because the value is not appreciating as fast as I would like. Re: "Otherwise you are gambling with your money through sheer inattention." A long term buy and hold strategy to me, anyway, suggests inattention is the key. That is the classic definition to me -- buy and hold over a lifetime. Maybe you have a different time frame for LTBH but then it is not LTBH to me. It is buy and hold until it doesn't work which is different to me.
