WAP is nothing, GPRS is nothing, but GPRS+WAP is something.

Additionally GPRS opens the door for many other things, WAP does the function of clicking the doors.

I have never thought outdoor laptop use would be a great thing, but a communicator in the pocket is great.

Btw, laptop displays are anyway a joke on the beach, even sitting on the back or front yard, kitchen door
steps when any kind of sun shines. (minor issue of back door and screen lights)

And as always, filling up that little handset screen is not as filling up an 8-9-11 inch laptop screen, but
who would carry around a laptop outdoors anyway??

Main thing is that "tick-tick by the minute" vs tick-tick by the MB.
