I don't know if you saw 60 minutes tonight. I found it totally alarming that 7 out of 7 of the students, ostensibly trained in the Muslim faith, interviewed believed these suicide bombers were "martyrs" on their ways to "paradise". That these American citizens have been raised to believe this must be cause for concern to all decent people. There is really, really something wrong with this picture. It IS scary...over and over we hear this about the youth in the Arab countries. bin Laden has become their hero. Its not good and we need to be figuring out why this happening.....why they see us on one level as the home of pop culture and everything that epitomizes what's cool, and on another level, Satan. And its not just because we are rich and powerful. As for Palestine, Americans need to ferret out the truth.....there is an Israeli version and a Palestinian one, and the truth is somewhere in between. We have tended to endorse the Israeli version.....I think because of our large Jewish population and because Israelis are more like us. Nonetheless, there is reason for the Arab hate.......it doesn't justify the suicide bombings nor 9/11 but it deserves to be acknowledged by us. Check out the link I posted previously to the Library of Congress version.......its the truest telling of the story of Palestine I have been able to find. BTW the story started early in the 20th Century and not just from 1947.
