Not to mention the fact that the other industrialized economies of the world were pretty much smashed flat at the end of the WWII -- France, Germany, Russia, Japan, etc. This creates a quite unrepresentative set of percentages.

Yes I understand that with the Europe and Japan smashed, and other countries undeveloped (look at S.Korea's and Taiwan's development since WWII) the US had something like 40 to 50% of the world's gross output after WWII. There was no way that was going to be other then a temporary phenomenon.
