Personally, I think that Sharon has done what needed to be done (and I have respect for the man) to the terror infrastructure but his persona is so controversial this opportunity may be lost if he and Arafat insist on continued participation.

Former Clinton advisor Marc Ginsberg pointed out the other night on Fox News that only 3% of UN Palestinian aid is donated by Arab countries. US and Great Britain contributions make up the bulk of the fund.

Over the last 50 years, there have been dozens of settlements and truces.

And what was offered? Was there repatriation for the lands and property confiscated during the 1948 war after Israel's independence? Has Israel agree to vacate the occupied territories? Will the Israeli residents willingly vacate their settlements?

Each one has been obliterated by Palestinian terrorists, or Arab attempts to invade Israel.

There is no question that the Palestinians have been pawns in the war between the Arabs and the Israelis. Its too bad that the Palestinians don't assign blame accordingly.

History has shown that habitual aggressors are educated through defeat. Consider the huge improvement in Japanese and German culture since 1945.

That argument is over done and over used. Besides, the comparison between the Germans/Japanese and the Palestinians is inappropriate. The Germans/Japanese went about annexing land that was not theirs. The Palestinians are attempting to get what remains of what was theirs originally [in the last two hundred years]. The land was compromised and parceled out to the Zionists by the British and then the UN........on no one's authority except God and the Queen.

Sharon is well on the way to knocking sense into the Palestinians.

Aahhh, yes, Sharon will knock heads and everything will be right again. Why do you think the Palestinians call him the Butcher? Why do you think an Israeli tribunal found him indirectly responsible for the massacre of Palestinian refugees in southern Lebanon? All that Sharon will accomplish is increasing the level of hate and anger.

How many times have the Israelis knocked heads in the past? How many years of peace did that buy?

Show patience. 50 years of negotiated settlements have failed.

Someone on another thread told me that the Palestinians like fighting and suicide bombing; like living in poverty and camps; like playing the victim. Do you believe that....or do you believe that they want what other people want......a good life, clean environment etc?

If you believe the latter, then you have to look closely as to why the negotiated talks have failed. I can not show patience when I believe fault lies on both sides, and yet neither side is willing to own it. Until that happens and a true settlement is broached, this stupid ass fighting will continue........and a lot more people will die. In the meantime, the rest of the world is in jeopardy indirectly and the US directly. Frankly, I don't think Israel and Palestine are worth the potential trouble that can result from their childish behavior.
