the federal government has no business in education

Should the federal government be involved in educational loans? Did you ever have an educational loan?

Bush is trying to eliminate a program that allows educational borrowers to get the lowest possible interest rates. He's desparately trying to recover $1.3B as a way of decreasing the overall budget deficit that was created by his tax cut. Just think, low income students will get to pay more interest on their loans so Dubya's pals can keep their boats.

That is what reagan did and local school taxes went up more than most peoples income taxes were cut. Now it will be worse since many local jurisdictions have caps on taxes.
