BMW,
RE:"It merely shows that AMD's current TBred steppings are unfit for commercial release due to being slower than their predecessor."

Yeah, because their .13u process still sucks. Maybe by summer, a year after Intel, it will be working better. Pretty pathetic when you consider AMD was first to copper and maybe 3-6 months behind Intel getting .18u implemented at the most.

RE:"If what you say is true about megahertz (and I think there is about 80% truth to your rants - excuse the term, but given enough of your posts, it does seem like a rant)"...

Well, sometimes it's hard to make sense of the engineering pi$$ing contest around here. So I try to throw out the frivolous stuff and reduce to the lowest common denominator. Sure seems like Mhz is important, especially when you look at a stock price chart and overlay it with who's got the Mhz lead. Or look when AMD gained market share...
As for 80%. OK, I can live with that. So 20% of the market doesn't care about Mhz.

RE:"So we might be seeing a "reintroduction" of current speed Athlons, simply rebranded as lower power versions of their former selves"

That would be pretty pathetic. Some overlap would be OK though.
