Almost everyone was. But trading them is OK; in and out is fairly safe. It's those who believed the hype and BS and "buy and hold" crap that really got stung.

My wife does taxes. You wouldn't believe how many clients she's got that exercised option back in 1999, 2000 and held the stock. They get taxed on the inflated value of the stock at the time they exercised..... but the stock is now worth 3% of that. Bankruptcy city.
