Al >"Jew" is such a charged word (often eliciting hypersensitive responses) that I prefer not to use it in any of its forms. Ironically, the Israelis now reserve the term for people who support their policies. In fact, people of Jewish birth and Jewish heritage who do not support their policies are called Jew-haters or self haters as part of their new propaganda initiative. Another stigmatized word is black. However, white, Christian, Muslim, Asian etc still seem acceptable. Strangely, since I was born in Africa, if I came to settle in the US I should be an "African-American" but that term is reserved for blacks/Indians/creoles (in fact any dark skinned person) who lives in the US and who may neither be African nor American! Anyway, I'm not politically correct so I call a spade a spade. Although, I guess if a called a black man a spade I should be guilty of hate speech and virulent racist behaviour.
