Just takes some well-positioned people at the top with just (for Europe) the usual, historic amount of anti-semitism, mixed in with others who sit atop companies that stand to lose a lot if a rival technology swamps the one they have built and bet their financial house on. And it is not just Irwin, but that Italian guy who was his partner - Viterbi? <ggg> I am curious is Vererbi's lineage traces back to Northern or Southern Italy. I'll bet if it's the latter, you will find some good old "anti-" stuff there as well. Although Jewish, I have some personal experience with the latter. FWIW, for a long time I have smelled this as one of the factors operating in the background with QCOM and Europe. Notice how often the word "arrogant" is used to describe QCOM and its management? Many companies use similar tactics and you never hear that word. JMHO.
