fck the french* Kinda an outlandish statement. As a teenager I hitch hiked through France several times, as well as most of Europe. Like most British guys, I was useless at language skills. For example, the typical way to communicate to some French guy is to shout in English with a French accent. Doesn't work of course.. you have to learn the damn language. Thing is, off the freeways, on the secondary roads (the French have to pay toll fees on Freeways, and hitch hiking is illegal) you meet lots of OK French people. Usually they speak real good English too. I visited Italy this way several times before I got a real job. Crossing the Alps with a French or Italian driver took a little courage of course -g-
