"But let's bring it down to a more personal level: When X was on your case in SMBR, and I intervened, should I not have done so?"

Based on the post you are responding to some action is recommended over no action. However, having not acting in this case would not carry the same weight of responsibility as if you were an agent of the TOU.

Well, I was hoping to avoid personal involvement in this issue. Hmmmmm....I had not been thinking of thread moderators as "agents of SI." That would be sort of like the ball monitor in the fifth grade being an agent of the school. The ball monitor has not accepted and therefore is not subject to the professional liabilities or requirements of the supervising teacher. Still, you could have committed a dopey action based on the intent of the thread header and when challenged reversed your decision, walked away from it, Laughed it off...or not. (Note: I think you done good). It would still fall back on SI Admin to intervene if the SMBR was out of control.

How on earth was I "on his case"? Except to challenge his very stupid assertion that MY saying I would not talk to him was the same as me saying he could not talk to me. I see that many of you wish to control the actions of others, in fact that you crave to do this, but it is nasty (imo)- and that was the point. If Jewel had quit lying about being harassed, I would have quit posting to him (what he really wanted to do was control my actions as opposed to his own). The point was that the bar of who can post to whom should not be set by the biggest sissies, the best manipulators, or the whiniest people on the block (imo). That is of course merely my opinion. I have seen harassment on SI- but quite frankly what I did to Jewel was not it, and not even close.

Oh wait- I feel harassed and stalked by all this talk about me. You must both immediately cease talking about me on SI. In fact, I will only be comfortable if you both stay off SI entirely. I am simply too psychologically damaged by your continual postings about me.

Oh yes, it could happen,. But of course it won't be me saying it, and it won't be a joke. Although I suppose it could be Jewel.
