Banks actually lose money lending to large cap "investment grade" companies. This development is not good for the large commercial banks or the borrowers or for the large investment banks for that matter or for investors for that matter. Here is why:

1. CP is cheap cheap cheap.
2. Commercial bank pricing is higher but still a loser profit-wise.
3. Banks will raise pricing and make loans - still likely marginal economics
4. Companies will pay up for debt
5. Banks will complain and ask for fee business
6. Goldman and Lehman and Morgan Stanley will lose business or have to make loans
7. IB profits will go down
8. More conflicts of interest could emerge as relationships deepen.
