I was thinking of identification for a just in case scenario. If they're harmless leave them alone but say he has termites swarming ...

I had an infestation of red and black bugs which turned out to be young box elder bugs. Semi harmless until it got to the point where I had to vacuum the walls of my house to see what color it was. The box elder tree finally died and will be cut down when it quits raining and the ground dries out.
