Dear Gerard: This President seems to allow MILITARY planners a free hand so most likely he wont get us over extended (my experience is top Brass very conservative). However, I believe Afghanistan no longer requires full troop units, more of a Special Forces type thing today with air support as needed. Thats why they pulled out the Marines. I do think its important that IF we are going to rid the World of Saddam that sooner is better than later. Once that is done IF its done as successfully as the Taliban were eliminated I would think leaders in the rest of the NOTORIOUS nations would kow tow to us. I dont think anyone in their right mind really WANTS to take on the might of the armed forces of the USA, its just a question as to whether or not they BELIEVE they run a risk. Everyone my age remembers when Libya was a problem and we bombed and nearly killed Kadify (sp?) and I think one of his wifes and children. Since then he has had the good sense to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT and HIS HEAD DOWN. jdn
