What a load of psycho-babble, whiney crap. How is it that Third World countries with fewer resources generate far better students than us with our HUGE $$$ dumphole of a system? Why is it that asian students far exceed their peers in same schools? You keep making it about money and the schools will keep sending the dummyboat down the river, filled, primarily with kids who are starting behind the majority to begin with. But hell, you've always got the rich white man to scape goat so it's cool.

If you can't provide em with an education, at least provide em someone to blame. That'll get em real far in life.

re:"SATs- have come under fire for disregarding both culture and different learning styles as well. Not that I'm totally comfortable with all these objections, but the weight given to SATs when considering entrance qualifications for college has dropped at many schools as a result"

Third Eye,

The other side of the argument, is that some States have mandated that race and ethnic background, not be considered in (state) college acceptances - using only "objective measurments". Some argue, that this has resulted in a decrease in some minority enrollments (in a number of those institutions). As a result, some of these State Colleges/Universities have considered dropping the SAT as one of their "objective" measurments.

BTW, in general, I have no problem with affirmative action, being used as a consideration in college admissions. I only care that affirmative action isn't used in graduation rates.
