The only solution is to bring Christians back to the area. Not long ago Christians were 25% of the population. Its under 5% now.

It wouldn't take very many, just enough to provide a leavening effect....

It's reminiscent of the Columbian situation with the drug cartel (replace with terror cartel). Just finished a book on how we helped kill Pablo Escobar. It is shocking how one man controlled a whole country by terror. He and EVERYONE associated with him was eventually assassinated by "interested parties" which included Los Pepes, very unsavory characters who were just as vicious as Pablo. They actually seem to have made some progress in Colombia from being paralyzed by fear.

I would say don't deal with Arafat. Isolate and mute him and see what surfaces as new leadership. Of course, new leaders would be suspected of being Israeli collaborators and picked off just like Sadat. If you cannot protect the elected President of Egypt you will likely not be able to protect any new leader from Palestine who attempts to negotiate peace with the Israelis. I suspect the Arabs only want to "start" talks and have no stomach for real solutions. Too risky.
