Perhaps.

However, you have no claim to that excuse because you are aware of the case. Arguing someone else's innocence does not relieve you of the guilt since you are fall into a separate category. True ignorance may be grounds for mercy, but wilfull ignorance brings judgement.

epstein, The manitou was known only to the Canadian, and far northern North American Indians. He is not, and never was considered to be a god. He was thought to be a spirit, and quite often, a bad spirit. Since the white Europeans considered the Indians to be savage, and ignorant, they translated the Indian word for God into "the Great Spirit". They also considered the Indians to be too uneducated to have any concept of a God like the Europeans did. Actually, the Indians were living a life that respected the animals, and the land, much more than the Europeans ever did, and were living more of a "god-like" life than any of the white men. There are also quite a bit of oral history covering the visits of Jesus Christ to a number of the tribes during the times He was absent from the old world of Judea.

Some of the most avid believers in the one true God, are American Indians today. Perhaps you should do a little studying before posting words that are nothing more than your personal opinion that have no basis in fact.
