GT -- not really. just means that there is TONS of stuff coming off patent with no real "killer apps" coming up behind. all the talk about too-expensive drugs is going to be ramping down by next year as the generics take a gigantic chunk out of the hide of big pharma.

people had been hoping that some of the DNA mapping would be starting to provide something tangible by now in terms of NCEs/biologicals getting into the clinic. but so far that hasn't happened. so the earnings bases of all of these drug companies are going to be gutted in the next 3 years. they are wasting assets at this point, unless those $billions they direct at R&D every year starts coming up with something interesting.

Cheers

>Drug charts = socialized health care just around da corner.

Yup.. Eventually people will realize that the US population can't afford to pay 4x the world's going rate for drugs and medical services. The public doesnt really realize how bad it is, since most people either have private insurance, or welfare (medicaid, medicare) and pay nothing.

The recipient doesnt pay anything for those expensive drugs, but the taxpayer certainly does.

Socialized medicine exists everywhere else in the world for a reason. Like electricity and water, it's one of those basic necessities that everyone needs and should basically be a govt regulated monopoly at its most basic level.. (rich people can still buy decent health care in canada, for example, but they pay through the roof for it)
