Mercantilism is GREAT for the economy... as long as you can find a bunch of dweebs who will ship unimproved raw commodities to you and never industrialize, and never seek to advance their own economies.

Problem is dweebs such as that are in short supply these days.

... They weren't in over abundance in the 'good old days' either, but having gun boats seemed to help :)
