A post from the guy who elected "The Body" to be governor. Is he still as popular? He's probably smarter than he looks.

Re: Baldy's "behavior modification" effect of taxes, particularly wrt your "mental health parity" -- it's creating the wrong behavior, sometimes:

I have a son-in-law who works for workman's comp insurance, and just received (get this) a dozen claims for a voodoo curse.

No, this isn't in Africa, this is in a Fortune 100 company.
It seems chicken parts were sent to a few employees with a scribbled note. All the employees were given time off work for supposed aches, pains, headaches etc. Now, all employees are making claims for coverage.

This is suspected to be the action of one of the claimants, wishing to get paid without working. The action was successful, because the employees all get time off with pay, plus $14,000 in treatments including pharmaceuticals. All courtesy of the company whose managers allowed this, the attornies who fight for it, the doctors who support it, and all of us who pay insurance premiums. The easiest money is likely to be made by the drug companies, with several hundred dollars per "victim".

The drug companies are making a major push to sell anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs, in the billions.

They may be the major supporter of such "mental health" legislation.

Because of the costs in lost productivity and increased premiums are several times greater than the drug profits, if the drug companies are successful in lobbying Congress and the Administration for support, it would be cheaper just to write a check from the Treasury directly to the drug companies, and bypass all the nuisance in between <gg>.
