You probably are aware that GM's Autonomy skate board fuel cell prototype is planning on using wheel motors. They haven't said who would be providing them. Unique Mobility makes permanent magnet motors, and has provided some to the Army for Humvee testing, but I am not aware of anyone building a motor in the wheel, YET. I know that it can be done, and I know that wheel motors will provide fantastic performance. Imagine 4 wheel drive with no wheel spin, and the power always going to the wheel with the best grip. A computer will control the RPM of each wheel in turns for maximum control. All it takes is feedback and the proper
algorithm.
