You may be right. I suspect, though, that the inability to reach significantly beyond his base will put things in perspective. France is an "almost" two- party system, at this point, with most of the electorate divided between the Gaullists and the Socialists. Occassionally, the Gaullists have split into two parties, and there are still Communists and, of course, Le Pen, but it is not like the Knesset, where every government is either a coalition between Likud and Labor (national unity), or cobbled together from splinter parties (which favors the religious parties, to whom both larger blocs pander). But I may be missing something......
