John, A groaner, but it has historical precedent. Francis of Assisi once volunteered to sleep with two beautiful naked women and not touch them all night to prove to Emperor Frederick II that he was spiritual. He also offered to walk through a bonfire to stop the fighting in the 5th Crusade. No takers either time.

Of course, Frederick would have been hard to convince. He once put a man in a vat of water and weighed him. Then he had the man killed and weighed him again to prove there was no such thing as a soul.

Scientific experiments were tough on the volunteers back in those days. <g>
