The linkage is the most prominent characteristic of the American (and international) left: anti-capitalism, anti-technology, anti-globalization, anti-humanity. The theme pervades all issues, from criminal tax rates, to running surpluses, to delaying ANWAR drilling. The theme is the destruction of private property and the assumption of power by the coercive state. The victims of the overarching theme are liberty and prosperity.

Do you think that government is any more capable of effective R & D in energy than they are in medicine or any other field? There is not one-not even a single one-life-improving innovation coming out of the coercive state in human history. The US has the capability of letting private enterprise develop the energy sources of the future by letting them keep their own resources and use them for that development, as well as providing projects of which the desired results may be a bi-product (such as the space program was, and the war on terrorism could be). But a public project aimed at alternative energy sources will fail, tied up in every innovation-inhibiting fashion we have developed from "Affirmative Action" to "Environmental Protection" to "Plaintiffs' Rights". America is a declining empire, and our coercive state is leading the way with bad government, promoting self-destructive policy, driven by the Democratic party, who's obsession with gaining power has made it a possession of the hostile "interests" who would destroy us...
