8:40AM: The futures are pointing to a slightly higher open, but they have weakened with the release of some economic data. Nonfarm Payrolls rose just 43K in April below the consensus of a +60K. The unemployment rate hit 6%, which also disappointed relative to the 5.8% consensus. April ISM Services is due at 10 ET. A modest rise to 58.0 is expected and it's the average of the prior two months. Briefing.com forecasts 57.0....It's a quiet pre-market from the analysts with few up/downgrades...Overseas, European markets were strong while Asian markets were mixed....
Current indications: S&P 500 futures are +0.70, or 0.3 pt below fair value. Nasdaq 100 is +4, or 5 pts above fair value.
