There are fund managers that are bailing from biotech, period. Getting out. This has happened in the past. The FMs have always, subsequently, looked silly. The fund, perhaps minus manager(s), scrambles back in later and at a higher price.

Why is it, again, that most fund managers don't beat market averages?

To me, bewildering. If I could find nine more companies like Tularik for an equally weighted basket of 10, I'd just go on vacation for three years.

A potential for mind-boggling appreciation. As for all development-stage biotechs, also the potential for $0/share.

It will be very interesting to look back in a few months and determine who the sellers were.

I imagine that some "out there" know now, so speak up if you have any ideas (please!). The large hedge funds certainly do.
