c2, that is basically the same premise i am following...

hesitate to buy more, though I'm tempted, for fear of unbalancing the rest of the portfolio which is already Q-heavy and probably not properly diversified as it is.

my big takeaway from my indexing phase is that diversification is very important. i doubt i will ever again take the kind of concentrated positions i used to have. whereas in the past, i looked at diversification as "diworsification" (a subject many expounded on here once upon a time) at worst and a distraction at best, now i really like the flexibility to take small positions. i also feel it gives me a little more courage to go where i fear to tread, since it's not like i'm betting the farm on any one play. right now i have about 110 different positions, excluding options, and cash level is still close to 40%. with things i see as asset-class allocations--like REITs--i take very small positions in many issues. but with something like QCOM, which i see as more of a special situation (after all i would not make a long sector bet on US large growth!), i am willing to up the weighting a bit.
