I would blow one's head up if I saw it in my closet. I think you missed the point.

If I saw it in the closet, or in the sewer for that matter I would see it as a threat to my health and safety...kaboom. That is different from raising it to be blown up as a strategy in war. If you allow it for rats you can't ethically draw the line at canaries. You might draw the line out of a sense of repulsion for rodents but this is not the issue.
