Sorry, that's Alex Haley--you know, sword-in-hand Bill's acquaintance who had spoken out about gold manipulation. He wrote several books including "Roots."

On that note I would point out that our illustrious leader has done quite well recently, leading his troops to take the first row or two of trenches. For all the flack Bill Murphy took over the last couple of years you have to ask yourself now--when he was getting reamed for praising gold at $265, wasn't that a steal back then? He looks mighty good right now IMO. I smell $315!

On the Roots thing, yes, Haley fudged a lot. There are slaves to this day in Morocco if I'm not mistaken. Most slaves shipped over were sold to slavers by victorious African tribes or by tribes not at war that merely wanted to get rid of criminals and troublmakers. That type of trade was ended long before the US Civil War by law anyway.

On the war fever thing--nobody I know ever talks about war. I think the 6" of snow we got each of the last two Sundays and the two hives of bees I ordered up from Georgia has gotten most of the small chat. Seems to be a disconnect. What CNN, MSNBC, or Fox say doesn't count.
