I guess my point is that a lot of the drugs we depend on have natural sources.
Definitely. I'd guess the vast majority are either natural or minor modifications of naturally occurring chemicals. The number that owe no parentage to Mother Nature is probably pretty small.

For that matter, food, in some sense the most basic and necessary "drug", is natural.
