There's far more PC2100 available than PC2700. That Intel supports the more common memory (PC2100) is not at all surprising. This is what I would expect. This 850E release is what is strange. What seems to be going on with the 850E is that Intel is supporting only the rare and expensive -40 RDRAM, and not supporting the more common version.
