Jay, I know we've overcome alot of our differences, but it is precisely this kind of posting that started us out on the wrong foot to begin with.
It isn't a question of who is right or wrong, since opinions are what make a market.
But the very tone of your posts is extremely patronizing and condescending. They also seem laced with schadenfreude, whether they are or not.

We've agreed to disagree on a number of points. Instead of posting links to lengthy posts (that engage an often cryptic writing style), why not just be short and to the point?

BTW, I spent time thinking about an analogy you used with the man falling from the 67th floor. You said on the way down he's thinking "this isn't so bad". Actually, that is quite wrong. Having fallen from the 3rd floor recently (ouch...broken feet), I can tell you that is hardly what goes through ones' mind.
Unfortuantely the problem you allude to is that the person who is falling CAN'T KNOW he is falling. Which is precisely what the issue is with the current economic condition. Nobody knows. So we take our cues from history.

BTW, in terms of analogy...I just had a tumor removed. Long story, not worth telling, but I'm fine. However, they didn't THINK it was a tumor. They assumed it was a blocked gland. When they got in and announced the tumor, that is when panic set in (I was awake during the surgery). However, about 10 minutes after it was over, I realized several things. First, it is likely benign and I'll be fine (this is just a typical boom/bust cycle). Second, it is benign, but may return as some fibrous tumors do (double dip recession). Third, it could be malignant (very rare, but possible, and most signs don't point to it...could be deadly). I figure the odds are 3/4 in my favor of full recovery (since even malignancy can be treated). When faced with those odds, it pays to be optimistic. I haven't lost sleep.
